Premier Inn is, along with Travelodge, one of the UK’s leading budget chains, and represents very good value for money, especially if you book a good time ahead. Like Travelodge, the price is the same for one or two people (and two adults and two children aged up to 16 if a family room), so the rooms represent even better value for couples and families.
The room I stayed in was spacious, spotless, pleasant and comfortable. The chain is clearly moving away from incorporating the purple used in its branding for its decor and furnishings, and the room was decorated in much more neutral tones: cream walls, brown curtains, grey carpeting and a couple of bright pictures of flowers on the wall. There was a hairdryer, hangers, a desk, tv and tea- and coffee-making facilities as well as a very clean and relatively spacious bathroom.
The bed was of a very good quality, a solid-top deep divan with a comfortable Hypnos mattress wrapped in hypoallergenic fabric and then tufted and finished with a wool-filled soft topper.
The restaurant was quite homely and pleasant enough, and breakfasts are generous, with a good choice of evening meals too.
If you’re on a budget but looking for reliable quality and more comfort than a Travelodge, then Premier Inn makes a great choice.
